African Foods Cuisine – Close to Home Project

Safari Catering offers series of FREE training on how to prepare African Foods to Black and Ethnic Minority Women. The program allows the women to share ideas about their cooking skills.
Make use of our ingredients benefit from support and encouragement from our experience African chefs. We also provide the women with the skills and confidence needed to cook variety of African foods.

Safari Catering has accomplished some successful training funded by Nottinghamshire Community Foundation (NCF) on how to prepare African Foods.

Training – Objectives:

To up skill ethnic minority women through appropriate training which meets their needs
To create flexible volunteer, part time and full time employment opportunities for long term unemployed women on benefit in a culturally safe environment with family friendly policies
To raise confidence and encourage participation in society and reduce isolation
To provide effective brokerage and signposting, to ensure our beneficiaries have access to available opportunities including encouraging women entrepreneurship
To cultivate a sustainable, self financing social enterprise which continues delivering benefits beyond the program
To encourage the women to work together and learn from each other
To develop and promote African foods heritage in the community
to promote the awareness of the specific needs of individuals and importance of eating quality African foods
to engage the community and build partnership
Help to integrate the hard to reach community and encourage them to communicate
Encourage the trainees to further their training and obtain accredited qualification in cooking African foods
