Volunteers - Always Required!
One of the things that help Safari Catering to succeed is the support, dedication and expertise of volunteers. We create new opportunities for people to learn new skills through volunteering and also welcome those who have enjoyed cooking careers or have had valuable life experiences in counselling, retailing, cooking and training and now have some time to share their skills, knowledge and experience to the community.
Job Purpose:
- To offer their time and energy in return for training and work experience in cooking, training and retailing African foods
- To help give support and expertise for the development of African women
- To advocate volunteering within a social enterprise.
General:
- To work with trainees and customers in order to gain new experience either for personal learning or in terms of sharing skills
- Depending on what the tasks will be, all sorts of skills are required. Volunteering to accompany staff to do shopping, serving customers on the counter, recording stock, stock control, washing pots, cooking African foods, handling cash etc are all useful to this project. No job is too little and no job is too large!
Specific:
- To assist trainees by building their capacity through volunteering
- To support and work with groups utilizing your specialist skills
- To assist with publicity and marketing, fundraising, management
- To undertake market research, mail shots
Time Commitment
Flexible, but minimum commitment each week would be at least 4 hours
